The senior citizens of Women of Action (WOA) had the opportunity to showcase their artwork during a Women’s Day event hosted at the Coniston Park sports and recreation hall, in Steenberg, by the City of Cape Town’s departments of social development, recreation and sport.
The women from Lavender Hill had been hard at work over over the past few months, making artwork such as dresses and these were modelled by senior club members at the event.
The departments spoiled the seniors with a breakfast, lunch and gift packs and offered them an exercise session.
Michelle Arendse, founder of WOA, said: “We would like to thank the two departments for treating the 150 women who attended the event.
“A special thanks goes out to the organisers Mary-Ann Bergman, Tahira Kassie and Elizabeth Pagel from the department of social development and Bella Mahlanza from the department of sport and recreation,” said Ms Arendse.
