Steenberg police are investigating attempted murder cases after two separate shootings in Fawley Court, Lavender Hill, last week.
A 32-year-old man was shot on Friday July 7, at 9.30am.
Officers were on crime prevention patrols in the area when residents informed them that the man had been shot in Fawley Court.
When they arrived on the scene, they found the man with a gunshot wound to the back – he is allegedly affiliated to the Corner Boys gang and it is believed the incident is gang related. No arrests have been made and police say the shooting may be gang-related.
In a separate incident, on Wednesday July 5, two men were shot at Fawley Court at 6.15pm. When police arrived at the scene they found a 20-year old man with a gunshot wound to the lower left leg and a 25-year-old who sustained a gunshot wound to his back. It is alleged the victims were standing in Fawley Court when four men in a car pulled up in Grindal Avenue. The suspects got out of the car and fired several shots at the victims then fled the scene in the same car. A case of attempted murder is being investigated and the incident is believed to be gang-related. No one has been arrested. l A 37-year-old man from Lavender Hill was arrested on Wednesday July 5 at about 12pm when police found 59 packets of tik and money in his possession. Officers from the Stabilisation Unit were patrolling in Grindel Close when they suspicious looking man and searched the man.
He appeared in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Thursday July 6.
On the same day, at about 7.40pm, officers were patrolling in Lavender Hill when they received a complaint of a shooting incident in Chapel Road.

He was arrested on charges of illegal possession of ammunition and appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday July 6.
