Twenty-three primary school pupils from Hillwood, Floreat, Harmony, Stephen Road, Montagues Gift, Square Hill, St Mary’s RC, St Clements, Levana and Fairview primary schools have been learning about nature and exploring the green economy through the non-profit organisation Nature Connect, which supports the preservation of Cape Town’s natural heritage through education, training and conservation initiatives. GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World donated just over R198 000 to the organisation’s sustainable schools project last year. On Wednesday January 13, the pupils visited the Silvermine Nature Reserve.GrandWest general manager Mervyn Naidoo met the pupils on their hike and said: “They were all very curious about the world around them and dedicated to preserving our natural world for generations to come.”
