Ward 65, in collaboration with NPO Shalom Community Care, hosted a wellness and health awareness day, at Lotus River multi-purpose hall, on Saturday June 3. Services include TB/HIV testing, blood pressure checks, mental health advice and men’s clinic referrals, while an organisation pampered the seniors.
Margo Johnson, founder of Shalom Community Care, said the event was successful as the community had the opportunity to ask questions to the representatives of various organisations including hospitals, clinics and day hospitals.
Faiqa Semaar, founder of Timeless Care for Seniors in Grassy Park, who attended the event to create awareness of senior care, said “we offered to pamper the seniors (with manicures) and it was nice to interact with the seniors on a one-on-one basis.”
Ms Semaar said their organisation focuses on the rights of seniors and those who live in an abusive environment.
