Steenberg police are asking for the community’s help in the investigation of a shooting that left a a 34-year-old man dead on Sunday July 26 on the corner of Loch and Lensie Streets in Sasmeer Estate, Retreat.
The shooting took place at about 8:19am and the motive is believed to be gang related.
The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old Vrygrond woman was allegedly raped in Vuyo Road by an unknown man on Saturday July 11, at about 11pm.
Muizenberg police arrested a 30-year-old suspect on Thursday July 16 who appeared in the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday July 20.
In another incident, on Thursday July 16, at about 11pm, a 30-year-old Vrygrond woman was confronted and allegedly raped by three unknown men in Berry Road, Vrygrond.
Officers led by their station commander Colonel Vassie Naidoo, arrested of one of the alleged suspects, a 24-year-old man from the same area. Further arrests were made of two suspects, aged 14 and 15. The three appeared in the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday July 20.
Colonel Naidoo assured the community that all efforts will be made to arrest and prosecute any perpetrator guilty of gender-based violence and rape and encouraged communities to report all of these cases.
In another incident, on Wednesday July 22 officers from the Steenberg Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 30-year-old man for the possession of an unlicensed gun and ammunition in St Agatha Street, Lavender Hill, at about 6:30pm thanks to a tip off about a man walking in the street with a gun.
Officers approached the man matching the description, searched him and found a silver and black 9mm pistol with the serial number filed off and 12 rounds of ammunition.
The suspect appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court once he was charged.
