Grassy Park police arrested three men for possession of drugs and ammunition last week.
Their Crime Prevention Unit received a tip-off on Tuesday April 24, at about 10pm, of drugs being sold at a home in Abdullah Walk, Parkwood. The property was searched and 34 whole and 25 half mandrax tablets, empty tik lollies, money and empty packets were found.
A 26-year-old man was arrested on charges of dealing and being in the possession of drugs.
Earlier on the same day, while officers were busy with routine crime prevention patrols in Stephen Road, Ottery, they saw two men dropping a white plastic bag when they saw the marked police vehicle.
When officers checked the bag, they found 50 .38 special rounds of ammunition.
Two men, both aged 20, were arrested on charges of illegal possession of ammunition.
All three men appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court.
Grassy Park acting station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Christiaan Esau, thanked the community and officers for contributing to a safer and drug-free precinct. He further urged the community to work with police to provide information about where firearms and drugs are being kept.
