NPOs gifted with fruit

Cheryl Wareley, field worker in the National Parliamentary constituency office; Sibongile Samsam, founder of Uncedo Lwethu Foundation in Ottery; Adrian Williams, chairperson of Rise and Shine community development in Ottery and Denzil Jehoma, Red Hill Numeracy, Literacy and Feeding Scheme in Red Hill.

The National Parliamentary Constituency Office, in Grassy Park, which is being used by ANC member of parliament, Judy Hermans, was gifted with fruit and vegetables from the Taipei Liaison Office in Cape Town headed by the director-general, David Yintso Lin, on Saturday January 27.

Ms Hermans said the donation consisted of watermelons, sweet melons and pumpkins which will be given to soup kitchens and nursery schools in the southern suburbs.

Ms Hermans said the produce is from the Bodhi Park of Amitofo Care Centre which is dedicated to care and education of underprivileged children around Africa.

Currently they have set up six schools and orphanages in countries like Namibia, Malawi, Lesotho, eSwatini, etc. Among their recipients are the: The Red Hill Numeracy, Literacy and Feeding Scheme, in Ward 61, The Daruraghmaan Society in Lavender Hill, Ward 110 and the Uncedo Lwethu Foundation in Freedom Park, Ward 66.

Ms Hermans, on behalf of the Parliamentary Constituency Office, thanked the Taipei Liaison Office and Amitofo Care Centre “for their generosity and for being such a wonderful community partner, working with us to support the people and families here in the southern suburbs”.
