Clive Jacbs, Lavender Hill
By now we have only heard complaints of the Retreat Community Health Centre, however, according to me and many others it is one of the best if not the top community day hospitals on the Cape flats, if not the best in the Western Cape.
What stands out for me is the brothers and sisters that work there. They have changed so much when it comes to assertiveness and they are aware of their surroundings and acknowledge the patients.
The staff has become more friendly and very helpful. Even though there is room for better behaviour from certain employees at Retreat Community Health Centre. That will improve as some are fairly new.
The male presentation at reception is great as the administration at window one is dominantly filled by the people who know the people and that’s great.
I think our patients attending the hospital will become more patient, just like at other hospitals where they will sit the whole day and still won’t be helped.
The difference here is our hospital employees are flat on the ground and supportive; at other hospitals we fear to attend due to culture barriers, and rudeness of behaviour.
We, in the greater Retreat, Steenberg and Lavender Hill, must appreciate the staff and volunteers.
I would like to thank Dr Karien Conradie who has given me much support and treatment, correctly measuring her humanity towards patients. You are an amazing woman and doctor. I can also use the term friend as you have restored my confidence.
A great thanks to the two nurses at triage your service and kindness is observed. You make me want to cry as sometimes as your attitude towards me is sublime. You never look past me and you are so encouraging.
Thanks nurses. Candice Stevens and Janade Pekeur you gave me hope to focus on the future visits, keep it up and not forget the pharmacy staff.
Life gets better. Keep motivating.
