Clive Jacobs, community worker and gay activist, Lavender Hill
Sadly, we the community of Lavender Hill have lost a great friend, diva, gay drag artist, humanitarian, organiser cabaret artist and much more.
Gita Kiel Hendricks, also known as Luke Kiel, a strong, loving person with great love for children within the community succumbed to an illness on Wednesday February 12 at Victoria Hospital.
He passed away in the presence of his husband, Caylin Kiel Hendricks.
He was well know for hosting the LGBTI event “Miss Gay Lavender Hill” and made sure that every Thursday the children around the area did not go to bed without bread by sending some to each house.
The diva was a great Whitney Houston fan and entertained his fans with her music and songs.
Gita was legally married for four years to Caylin, and they were about to apply to adopt a child as their love for kids was huge.
Gita was the second youngest of six children and was raised in Fawley Court, Lavender Hill.
This diva performed at events such as the Miss Gay Western Cape and other events around the province.
Gita will surely be missed by all and she will be remembered for her music and performances but
most of all, her good heart .
Your spirit will lingers among us forever.
