The Hillview Guardians neighbourhood watch held a joint operation in the community with various officials at the end of last month. According to the watch’s chairman, Carl Abrahams, mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis, mayoral committee member for safety and security JP Smith, ward councillor Mandy Marr and Police Oversight and Community Safety MEC Reagan Allan joined the watch, municipal police and traffic officers for the operation. Afterwards, a representative from Mr Smith’s office presented the watch with two bicycles, first-aid kits, reflector bibs, headlamps and traffic cones to help patrollers. This followed a donation, earlier in the month, of eight mountain bikes from the Bicycle Empowerment Network (BEN), the Pedal Power Association and Qhubeka.
