Vrygrond NPO Where Rainbows Meet celebrated International Women’s Day, marked annually on March 8, with fun, games and some inspiration, on Friday March 9. International Women’s Day recognises the social,
economic, cultural and political achievements of women throughout history and across nations. It is also known as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace. The Where Rainbows Meet theme for this year was “Women’s rights are Human rights”. Women came dressed in white and heard motivational speeches and words of encouragement and had the chance to talk about their experiences. The women also played games, were entertained with dance and meditated. The importance of the day was to empower the women, to encourage them and to strengthen their self-confidence.
