A 41-year-old alleged rapist in a Steenberg rape case is due to appear again in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court today, Wednesday September 25.
The suspect is accused of raping a 21-year-old woman on Monday September 9.
The accused was assaulted by the Parkwood community the day
after the rape and chased from Denise Court in Parkwood to the M5.
Captain Wynita Kleinsmith, spokesperson for Grassy Park police, said the alleged perpetrator was beaten and stoned by the community and taken to hospital on Tuesday September 10.
He was arrested by Steenberg police and appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday September 16.
Bail was denied and he will appear again in court today.
He is currently in custody at Pollsmoor Prison.
The case is still under investigation by Wynberg SAPS’ Family violence Child protection and Sexual offences (FCS) Unit, said Captain Kleinsmith.
