The pupils of St Augustine RC Primary school let their imaginations run wild when they took part in the school’s book character day.
The fun days took place on Thursday March 18 and Friday 19 to coincide with International Read To Me Day and World Poetry Day and pupils and teachers were invited to dress up as their favourite storybook characters.
Rebecca Gerber, a Grade 3 teacher and English Committee co-ordinator said the school staff wanted to do something positive to promote literacy. “Since Covid-19 fears seem to have taken over and school doesn’t feel quite like it used to, with all the strict Covid protocols we have to follow. So we had a bit of fun, she said.”
Each pupil made a R5 donation which will go towards the buying fans for the school hall.
