Work on the new Pelican Park clinic should be complete by November but it will probably only open later next year.
The project started in July last year, and, according to the City of Cape Town, will be fully furnished and the interior fittings and IT infrastructure should be done in the first few months of next year.
JP Smith, Mayco member for safety and security and social services, said the clinic had been built to meet the growing need from new housing developments in the area.
“We’ve had a few delays as a result of bad weather, but, generally, the contractor has progressed well, and I’m very excited to see the final product.
“The overall cost of the project is just over R40 million, and I believe it is money well spent, given the need for access to primary health-care services in our communities,” he said.
