Lavender Hill community leader Clive Jacobs announced his retirement from community work last Friday, shortly before celebrating his 60th birthday.
Mr Jacobs has been involved in community work for about 40 years and described it as a “proud adventure”.
“I thank God for this time and the healthy situation I am in,” he said.
Over the years, Mr Jacobs has run children’s holiday programmes, helped young people get involved in sport such as netball, assisted the elderly, and organised beauty pageants for the youth.
He celebrated his 60th birthday with family in Kuils River.
“I just want to thank my siblings and their families that made my celebration possible as I had no idea. It was a massive surprise. And, to my community, thanks for believing in my abilities in creating change.”
