A non-profit organisation which focuses on equipping children to become future leaders have opened their doors to train and equip communities.
The Jump Start Sunday School Foundation was established in 2018 with an aim to assist underprivileged and disadvantaged children’s ministries by equipping the teachers and helpers in order to equip the children they teach.
Pelican Park resident Justin Hendricks started the organisation four years ago when he saw the need for better knowledgeable programmes in children’s ministry and Sunday schools.
“I then started the programme to equip churches on how they can build programmes and start a curriculum and how to get started.”
The organisation also renders services of a spiritual and holistic nature, and to transform the community by inspiring children to participate and be empowered.
Earlier this month Jump Start held their annual Children’s Day and the theme was “yes I can” to encourage children to believe in their dreams.
The event was hosted at the Hephzibah Church on Saturday October 1 and the programme consisted of games, music, crafts, teaching, fun and food.
One hundred children from various children’s ministries, churches and from Grassy Park were invited to participate on the day.
The NPO’s board hopes to roll out their programme to other churches as well as hospitals and to children of the broader community. The organisation thanked their sponsors and organisations who contributed and took part on the day.
