The City of Cape Town unveiled a mobile housing office in Lotus River last week.
Eddie Andrews, mayoral committee member for area south, was at the Lotus River Centre to introduce the MyEstate concept and to engage with residents about the mobile office. The MyEstate office is meant to fill the gap left by the closure of satellite housing offices that have been underutilised in some communities.
Resident were welcomed to the mobile office for help with account enquiries such as those relating to their rates, sewerage, electricity, water, and transfer of property .
General enquiries about parks, waste removal, property management, and valuations, among others, were also attended to by the City officials who were on hand.
“We are taking services to the doorstep of customers, especially in under-serviced areas.
“In this way we are also able to reach the more vulnerable residents who may not have the means to go to a municipal office for assistance,” said Mr Andrews.
The MyEstate Mobile office renders various tenancy management services such as logging service requests on behalf of residents, assisting residents with rent
relief applications, housing database queries and new applications, completion of lease agreements, arrangements for rental accounts in arrears, general enquiries and even providing personalised service for a resident who was unable to walk.
The mobile office will be
stationed at the Lotus River Centre from 9am until 1.30pm on Friday June 1, Friday June 15 and Friday June 29.
