The Open Mosque in Lester Road, Wynberg, will host a Freedom Day celebration on Saturday April 27 with a special dinner banquet as well as a guest speaker.
In a statement, the mosque said that instead of simply saluting the political freedoms that South Africans seemingly enjoy at present, they want to stimulate much-needed public debate surrounding the fundamental flaws existing within our country’s vaunted constitution.
Professor Jairam Reddy, the former vice-chancellor of the University of Durban-Westville and the ex-Dean of Dentistry at the University of the Western Cape, will reflect on constitutional democracy in South Africa since 1994.
There will be a complimentary buffet meal prepared by the staff of the Open Mosque. RSVP to info@theopenmosque.org.za to reserve your seat.
